David Madlabane

David Madlabane, aka David Blakc is a Joburg-based visual artist who utilizes a wide range of mediums such as ink, pencil, charcoal, paint and digital art. He also specializes in printmaking techniques such as linocut, silk-screening and etching. Awards and Accomplishments: • Strauss and Co - the people’s choice award. • First prize collaborating with Cartier. • Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize finalist. David’s work is a look into the human experience pertaining to the period of darkness and pain that’s evoked by devastating loss. He journeys us through the emotional and crippling process of trying to piece oneself together and how daunting it can be to one’s mental state, in how life perspective often changes.
