MoAfrika wa Mokgathi
South African born, MoAFRIKA wa MOKGATHI, is a multifaceted artist. An accomplished poet and performer, but also an African indigenous languages activist, voice over artist, MC and award winning Radio broadcaster. She’s the author of “My tongue is a rainbow“ Poetry debut collection which was launched in Washington DC (USA) in 2019 as part of the Azania to DC Poetry tour and cultural exchange. It explores topics such as (but not limited to) inequality, social injustices, mental health and marginalized languages. She has lectured and facilitated at international universities – NYU (USA) and Gothenburg University (Sweden). France, Mozambique, Ghana, Colombia, Nigeria and Rwanda are also countries she has participated in Festivals at.
Her style of writing involves code mixing and code switching of English and Sepedi, which has become her signature.
Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africa Alumni (2020) awarded MoAFRIKA for her contribution in the Arts & Entertainment.
She’s currently working on a poetry and music album.
