Solly Ramatswi

SOLLY RAMATSWI, formerly known as Soetry, is an award-winning poet and multifaceted artist whose creativity is a blend of poetry, playwriting, song writing and theatre. SOLLY's work is rich with imagery and metaphors drawn from his rural upbringing and his passion extends to social activism and Sign Language. Through Soetry Media, he promotes language diversity and inclusivity. He’s the 9th Word N Sound Poetry League Champion of 2019 winning Perfect Poem Award, as well as the 2018 runner up winning Best Newcomer. He’s also Ekurhuleni Poetry Slam Champion of 2019 in the Narrative Poem category and then went on to be the Slam Champion in 2024 at Culture on 7th. SOLLY’s achievement are too numerous to mention but he’s had some on-screen appearances too, including a performance on Skeem Saam. Apart from an extensive list of theatre productions he’s written, performed and directed, 2024 saw him launch a collaborative album with another multihyphenate, Masai Sepuru, in Sepedi. It’s called Diphiri and is on Spotify.
