Thabang Collen Matlala

THABANG COLLEN MATLALA is an Award-winning professional dancer and choreographer from Tembisa who is trained in theatre, dance, poetry and music. In 2009 Thabang joined Moving Into Dance Mophatong (MIDM) and that year he won the MTN Arts Alive City Festival Bursary Award. Thabang's versatility led him to participate in the 2010 Fifa World Cup Diski Dance Opening Ceremony. He’s also been a dancer in Jerry Mofokeng’s ‘MaBrrr’ and later participated in the Afcon Soccer Tournament Opening Ceremony. Further opportunity secured him a spot in the International Folklore Dance Festival. ‘Medumoya Borwa’ is the recipient of the 2018 Grahamstown National Arts Festival Gold Ovation and Thabang was its lead choreographer.
