Violet Ephia Mmbidi

VIOLET EPHIA MMBIDI, a Fine Art B-Tech graduate from the Vaal University of Technology, is known for capturing the essence of femininity by using textured materials and mixed media to explore the social and cultural tools that shape feminine identity. As part of a joint international initiative, she has curated several international exhibitions; notably, exhibitions in Berlin (2005) and Munich (2006). In addition to her curatorial work, EPHIA participated in the Seta Scarce Skills Programme NQF5 Exhibition Management and Design (2006), facilitated by the Craft Council of South Africa. She integrates elements like collage, charcoal and paint to create layers and dynamic figures and faces. “My art is not only a celebration of women but a challenge to the systems that confine them.” - VIOLET EPHIA MMBIDI
